چکیده

We propose a new algorithm for the solution of the linear minimum cost network flow problem, based on a sequential shortest path augmentation approach. Each shortest path is constructed by means of the recently proposed auction/shortest path algorithm. This approach allows useful information to be passed from one shortest path construction to the next. However, the naive implementation of this approach where the length of each arc is equal to its reduced cost fails because of the presence of zero cost cycles. We overcome this difficulty by using as arc lengths ǫ-perturbations of reduced costs and by using ǫ-complementary slackness conditions in place of the usual complementary slackness conditions. We present several variants of the main algorithm, including one that has proved very efficient for the max-flow problem. We also discuss the possibility of combining the algorithm with the relaxation method and we provide encouraging computational results. 1 Research supported by NSF under Grant CCR-9103804 and Grant 9300494-DMI. 2 Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, M.I.T., Rm. 35-210, Cambridge, Mass., 02139. A generic auction algorithm for the minimum cost network flow problem

In this paper we broadly generalize the assignment auction algorithm to solve linear minimum cost network flow problems. We introduce a generic algorithm, which contains as special cases a number of known algorithms, including the e-relaxation method, and the auction algorithm for assignment and for transportation problems. The generic algorithm can serve as a broadly useful framework for the d...

A New Algorithm for the Discrete Shortest Path Problem in a Network Based on Ideal Fuzzy Sets

A shortest path problem is a practical issue in networks for real-world situations. This paper addresses the fuzzy shortest path (FSP) problem to obtain the best fuzzy path among fuzzy paths sets. For this purpose, a new efficient algorithm is introduced based on a new definition of ideal fuzzy sets (IFSs) in order to determine the fuzzy shortest path. Moreover, this algorithm is developed for ...

Conversion of Network Problem with Transfer Nodes, and Condition of Supplying the Demand of any Sink from the Particular Source to the Transportation Problem

In this article we present an algorithm for converting a network problem with several sources and several sinks including several transfer nodes and condition of supplying the demand of any sink from a particular source to the transportation problem.  Towards this end, and considering the very special structure of transportation algorithm, after implementing the shortest path algorithm or ...

CAFT: Cost-aware and Fault-tolerant routing algorithm in 2D mesh Network-on-Chip

By increasing, the complexity of chips and the need to integrating more components into a chip has made network –on- chip known as an important infrastructure for network communications on the system, and is a good alternative to traditional ways and using the bus. By increasing the density of chips, the possibility of failure in the chip network increases and providing correction and fault tol...

Auction algorithms for network flow problems: A tutorial introduction

This paper surveys a new and comprehensive class of algorithms for solving the classical linear network flow problem and its various special cases such as shortest path, max-flow, assignment, transportation, and transhipment problems. The prototype method, from which the other algorithms can be derived, is the auction algorithm for the assignment problem. This is an intuitive method that operat...
